63rd International Abacus Mental Math Training

By Rizwan Rafique

From July 14 to 18, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the 63rd International Abacus Mental Math Training held in Linyi, Shandong Province. This five-day program brought together 28 international students from 22 countries, and it marked the first entrepreneurship training for international students after the "Foreign Cultural Trade" Talent Selection Competition in China.
Throughout the training, we delved into the fascinating world of abacus mental math, learning essential skills and concepts under the guidance of Shenmo Company. They firmly believe that abacus education goes beyond mere mathematical proficiency, with the goal of enhancing children's mental math capacity, concentration, intuition, and overall learning abilities. Their carefully designed abacus curriculum provided a comprehensive learning experience that nurtured various cognitive abilities.
The classes were engaging and inspiring, led by experienced and dedicated professionals who created a positive and stimulating learning environment. Not only did we learn how to perform calculations using the abacus, but we also developed crucial skills in problem-solving, logical thinking, and memory improvement. The hands-on approach and interactive teaching methods employed by Shenmo made the learning process enjoyable and captivating for all of us.
During the training, we had the chance to explore not only the technical aspects of abacus mental math but also the rich history and culture behind it. We visited the Shenmo Abacus Museum, where we learned about the evolution of abacus use and its significance in different cultures. Additionally, we had the privilege of visiting local Linyi Schools, where we witnessed firsthand how abacus mental math education positively impacted students' learning and development.
One unique aspect that stood out about Shenmo Company was their emphasis on making abacus classes enjoyable for children. They understood that a positive and fun learning experience is essential in sparking children's interest and motivation. By incorporating games and activities into the curriculum and fostering a supportive classroom atmosphere, Shenmo ensured that learning became an enjoyable journey for all the participants.
Beyond the academic aspects, the training also offered a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange and networking. Engaging in candid, substantive, and constructive conversations with classmates from different schools and countries allowed us to broaden our perspectives and create lasting connections. The warm hospitality extended by our gracious hosts added to the overall warmth and richness of the experience.
As the training came to an end, I returned home filled with gratitude for the enriching experience and the wonderful company of everyone I met. The knowledge and skills I acquired during those five days have left a profound impact on me. I am excited to apply my newfound understanding of abacus mental math and continue nurturing the connections I made during this remarkable journey.
